Say goodbye to cold weather sniffles with this delicious POWER C juice! This is one of my favorite juices to make and drink because it tastes SO good and there aren’t a lot of ingredients to prep. And trust me – your immune system will thank you this cold season! I am huge on holistic illness prevention and healing. Not a big fan of relying on pills for medicine, so I try to keep my body strong and healthy with foods whenever I can. I haven’t had the flu shot in years, and am counting on this juice to fight the flu this winter. So far, so good!
This recipe makes one 16 oz serving, but feel free to double it so you can enjoy with a friend 🙂
- 2 carrots
- 2 oranges
- 1 grapefruit
- 1 inch ginger
- 1 inch turmeric
- a handful of mint leaves
Wash and peel everything except the mint, and simply toss all into your juicer to make the most scrumptious Vitamin C concoction you’ll ever taste!
Now, you might be curious about the health benefits of each ingredient in this juice. After going through them all, you’ll enjoy it even more! I know I did.
Carrots are a wonderful source of beta carotene and antioxidants, which has been linked to reducing risk of cancer, improved eye health, and lowered blood cholesterol. As you may already know, oranges are packed with Vitamin C, which promotes immunity, heart health, and the formation of collagen (better skin, anti-aging)! Grapefruit shares a lot of the health benefits of oranges, and it has been shown to aid weight loss. It’s low in calories, yet rich in nutrients. When paired with everything else in this juice, it’s a healthy way to satiate a sweet tooth.
Ginger and turmeric are great root additions to any juice. Not only do they give a nice kick, they also help calm inflammation in the body as well as relieve chronic pain, and fight the common cold! Last but not least, mint adds a splash of refreshing flavor that is just irresistible! I like adding mint to my juices especially after dinner because it helps my body digest food before I wind down for the night.
If you don’t have all these ingredients on hand, the good news is that this juice will still taste pretty good missing one or two things. Not the same, of course… but still yummy. For example, I’ve had this same exact recipe without the grapefruit or mint, and it is still delightful. On another occasion, I found my fridge out of carrots, so I made the recipe without them. The juice came out a bit more tart, but still tasty! Don’t be afraid to experiment with other fruits & veggies, and let me know if you come up with a fun POWER C juice variation xo
